New Office in Iqaluit
The Courts Administration Service announces the opening of a new local office in Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory
OTTAWA, December 8, 2005 - R.P. Guenette, Acting Chief Administrator of the Courts Administration Service and the Chief Justices of the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and the Tax Court of Canada are pleased to announce the opening of a local office in Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory.
The Honourable John D. Richard, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Appeal, the Honourable Allan Lutfy, Chief Justice of the Federal Court, the Honourable Edmond P. Blanchard, Chief Justice of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada, and the Honourable Donald G.H. Bowman, Chief Justice of the Tax Court of Canada, feel that opening this office will provide greater accessibility to members of the legal profession, litigators and the people of the Nunavut Territory. Mr. Guenette noted that access to the four Courts is one of the Courts Administration Service's priorities and adding this office shows our commitment to improving client services.
This office will be operated by three employees from the Nunavut Court of Justice (Joe Kucharski, manager of operations, Rose David, registrar and Marykulu MacMunn, registrar and interpreter). Please note that for the time being the Iqaluit office will accept documents submitted by the parties for the Federal Court of Appeal, Federal Court and Tax Court of Canada.
Office hours at the Iqaluit office are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office's address and contact numbers are:Nunavut Court of Justice Tel. : (867) 975-6100
