The Honourable Peter B. Annis
Born in Ottawa, Ontario. Educated at Queen’s University (BA 1968 and LLB 1971) and at l'Université d'Aix-en-Provence in France (PhD 1972). Admitted to the bar of Ontario in 1974. Formerly certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation, Mr. Justice Annis was Senior Counsel of the Civil Litigation Section at the Department of Justice from 1974 to 1981; Partner at Honeywell, Wotherspoon from 1985 to 1986; Partner at Borden Ladner Gervais from 1987 to 2001; Partner at Vincent Dagenais Gibson from 2001 to 2005. Mr. Justice Annis was in private practice from 2006 to 2010 as a Sole Legal Practitioner & Dispute Resolution Practice; Chairperson of the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal from 2007 to 2010. Part-time lecturer at the University of Ottawa and instructor for the Ontario Bar Admission Courses, 1977-2002. Founding Director of the Centre for Legal Translation and Documentation at the University of Ottawa, 1982-1984. Past President of l’Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario; Past Trustee of the Carleton County Law Association.
