Federal Court Prothonotary Appointment Announced

OTTAWA, May 1st, 2007 – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Prothonotary Kevin R. Aalto, a partner with the Toronto office of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP is appointed to the position of prothonotary of the Federal Court, Toronto Regional Office.

Mr. Kevin Aalto received a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in 1973 and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours – History and Political Science) from Victoria College, University of Toronto in 1970 and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1975. He practised with Perry Farley Onyschuk (1975-1979) and then with Strathy, Archibald & Seagram until it merged with Gowling & Henderson and its successor firms. Mr. Aalto's practice expertise is in the areas of corporate/commercial and insolvency litigation. He is active in many professional activities, particularly ones relating to case management and court administration, and on the cultural scene in Toronto acting as President of the Board of Directors of Tafelmusik.

This appointment is effective May 7, 2007.
